A visit from a couple of Roosters!

Today we were lucky enough to have a visit from two Sydney Roosters players, Mose Masoe & Frank Paul Nuuausala!
The students got to ask them lot of interesting questions and get their autographs at the end.
It was very exciting!

Antarctica!

This term 5/6B have been learning about Antarctica with Miss Fidler.

Technopush Challenge!

Last week 25 students from year 5 and 6 travelled down to Eastern Creek Raceway to participate in the NRMA Technopush Challenge. This involved competing in a variety of races including the adventure challenge, road safety challenge and the sprint challenge, which the year 6 team won! We were also featured on the Channel 9 local news! The day was a great success and everyone really enjoyed the experience.

Family Homework!

Last week 5/6B had some interesting homework tasks which required them to do one of the following:
  1. Play a board game with your family
  2. Do an activity with a parent that you would not normally do.
  3. Help your parents cook a meal. Write the name of the meal and what was your part in the preparation of the meal.
  4. Play a maths game on the computer with a parent.  Do a PMI about the game
  5. Do the vacuuming or washing and get your parents to write a response to your effort
These are some of the reports we received from the students and parents!

A Report on Patrick’s Washing Skills

Patrick is reasonably good at doing the washing. As long as I have put it in separate  piles of whites and colours. I was surprise when he offered to do it for me without being asked.

He washed three loads for me, two on Wednesday and one on Thursday.
His hanging out skills were fantastic, as he puts the sock together as I am always rushing I never take the time to do this.

I did have to remind him to bring it in before dark but he did this when told.

So in all, I would say that he is a responsible washing helper and would recommend him to any teacher who would like their washing done.

          Lucy
Despite being a bit slow to act, Lucy was very efficient taking the washing off the line. One area for improvement is to not leave the pegs scattered on the ground.

Izzy
Isabella made me feel proud once again with her vacuuming. She moved it around so easily and made sure she picked up every bit of rubbish that was on the floor. She also did it quickly. But I expected nothing more from her as she has learnt her skills from an addictive vacuumer.
Well Done Everyone!

NAIDOC Week

This year we celebrated the culture, history and achievements of our Indigenous people during NAIDOC Week which was held in July. The 2011 National NAIDOC theme is about taking responsibility for our future.
Heaton Public School held an assembly to celebrate NAIDOC which included performances from the GATS girls dance group, GATS choir and presentations and speeches by teachers and students.

Miss Mead's last day in 5/6B

5/6B had a party on Friday afternoon to say goodbye to Miss Mead. We enjoyed party foods, sang, danced and played trivia with 4/5M. Miss Mead really enjoyed her time with 5/6B and is looking forward to seeing them again in Terms 3 and 4.
